Daily Duties at University Of Minnesota Crookston:

I scheduled the athletic facilities for not only sporting events, and practices, but for presentations, graduations (college and high school), guest speakers. I would schedule the class rooms through the office of academic affairs office for classes to be taught. I would get the proper insurance information out to the Minnesota State High School league from the University of Minnesota so they could use the facilities. I developed a system where each head coach for their sport could request an athletic facility for practice, scrimmages, games. By doing this it made things a lot more efficient for the head coaches and helped them organize their plans way ahead in advance. When I took over this job I was asked to just manage the facility and try and make sure I was fair, it had been a first come first serve type of scheduling. The system I implemented was based on who was in season at that moment. For example if volleyball wanted to use the facility and it was second semester and they were not in their championship season, they would have to wait behind the teams that were in their championship season. They would be able to use the facility but it would be after or before those teams. There were a number of request from outside entites wanting to use the facilities. In the past they were granted use, but then sometimes at the last minute were told they couldn't use them because they did not have the proper paper work and insurance forms filled out. I worked with these outside entites and trained the secretary at the physical plant on how to make sure all the documentation was done way in advance so they could use the facility without being held up. This created more revenue for the college because now people, groups, organizations were not being turned away. So I created more revenue, I created less friction with the people because now they could use the facilities, and I streamlined all the paper work so it was easier to get it done and in way ahead of time.
