Daily Duties at Us Navy:
Responsible to adhere to all applicable requirements of the installations Hazardous Material/Waste Management Plan. Ensure there is an appropriate final destination for hazardous waste and manage off-site shipment of hazardous waste for reuse, recycling, and disposal.Maintain the hazardous waste tracking system. Issue empty containers for the accumulation of hazardous waste Assist hazardous waste generators in properly characterizing waste. Provide waste identification numbers and labels for hazardous waste containers and items. Manage the pickup of hazardous waste containers and items. Will be responsible for handling hazardous or toxic materials in a safe manner to minimize safety hazard, prevent spills, and reduce/eliminate Hazardous Waste generation. Assist the squadron HMC&M LPO in managing this program by becoming work center expert on reference, and all other pertinent instructions as they pertain to HMC&M. Evaluates and provides feedback on worker’s performance. Assists in the training of new personnel Develops and implements hazardous materials supply training program. Performs specialized employee environmental training for waste handlers. Ensures that all waste is retrieved from work centers in a timely manner, and is properly identified, packaged, containerized, marked, transported and turned in all federal, state and local laws and regulations. Responsible for seventeen sailors and twelve hazardous material storerooms containing 2.89 million dollars worth of materials.
