Daily Duties at Network For Teaching Entrepreneurship:

I became one of the first certified entrepreneurship teachers for NFTE (National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship) in 2002. At that time I taught entrepreneurship to at-risk youth and special education high school students by creating ad hoc lessons from my business experience. Along with a few other certified teachers, those lessons were bundled together and became the 2nd edition of the NFTE high school classroom textbook which I ghostwrote for. Over next few years, I continued to design lessons, test them in the classroom and codify the breakthroughs that became the 3rd through 9th editions of the curriculum. In this time I was able to instruct over thousand students from the target population. In 2007, I became a certified teacher trainer and flew around the country training 30 teachers at a time in week long seminar trainings. I also was the direct interface between these teachers and how the newest version of the curriculum was implemented in their classroom. Under my guidance, the teachers submitted feedback on the curriculum and the revisions were used to become the 11th edition of the textbook. In addition, I designed, taught and measured professional development workshops for teachers to fill in the gaps in their knowledge such as spreadsheet construction, finance, public speaking and using LMS. I also created a program that brought the target population on to college campuses called MBA For A Day and used it as an opportunity to raise money from high profile private donors.

What they like about Network For Teaching Entrepreneurship:

Working for a company with an emphasis on social values and helping society is a clear and important priority for you - a critical factor in who you choose to work for. In contrast to other factors, you place an organization's reputation for fairness and concern for the community above most other aspects of the company. As you search for a new job opportunity, it is usually possible to find out if the company is involved in the community and/or if it is addressing problems and issues in society. Pay special attention to non-profit organizations and those specifically involved in social action. Moreover, speaking with current and former employees should enlighten you to perceptions of the fairness of the company's leaders and the treatment of employees.
