Daily Duties at Cogswell College Of Silicon Valley:
In my first year at Cogswell, there was a binder of six courses planned for the program but nothing in terms of actual instruction had been planned. I took all 28 courses in the curriculum and wrote syllabi for each course complete with course learning objectives. I recruited and work with an industry advisory board to shape what the outcomes of each course needed to be. Once each syllabi was written, I wrote out week by week schedules of instruction for each courses. Starting with a core group of students, I tested the courses and documented how the design of the class matched against its course learning objectives. In addition to increase awareness of the program, I would present to high school juniors and seniors about my program. I also entered my students in college entrepreneurship competitions as well as lined up internships that led to jobs. Based on the successes I was finding in the design, the school asked me to create a curriculum for its Masters programs. I ran the same the cycle of testing with an informal beta test group of graduate students.
What they like about Cogswell College Of Silicon Valley:
A hiring company that offers alternative approaches to pay, performance bonuses, and/or equity in the firm is very attractive to you. You're generally less interested in working for an organization offering only traditional, salary-based compensation, one with limited opportunity to acquire equity in the firm, or one that does not actively promote skill development. In addition, you are more likely to choose a company that offers a variety of internal career options, with defined career paths. You view the learning of new skills and development of your expertise as key to your career advancement. These aspects of an organization may become even more important to you as you progress in your field, and are especially critical if you change career or occupation.
