Daily Duties at American Red Cross:
• Increased active volunteers from 12 to 63 during the first six months by actively recruiting and establishing a student volunteer program with UNT. • Managed and staffed 3 shelters in Denton County during Hurricane Ike and Gustov that collectively housed over 400 evacuees for 10 days. • Established cooperative disaster response with other non-profits by defining roles and resources. • Decreased the office budget by empowering volunteers to use their life skills to cover required job functions. • Represented the American Red Cross on the Board for the United Way. • Increased local funding from grants and number of grantors by 19% • Increased CPR and First Aid class income through teaching and training additional instructors. • Co-chaired Denton County Volunteer Organizations Against Disasters for two years strengthening our community bond within the emergency response community. • Negotiated and executed 86 shelter agreements with churches, schools and civic buildings in Denton County.
