Daily Duties at Sirva/North American:
As the Logistics Center Supervisor I managed all aspects of a multi-customer specialized accounts program. I maintained the operations, administration and warehouse. This was a 150,000 sq ft facility that housed $5 million dollars or more of inventory. What we did was take calls from computer technicians and dispatch the parts to the businesses they were at so they could repair the computers. We also had an account that required a driver to go to hospitals and demonstrate how to use one of the machines they just purchased. This required special training and some overnight stays for the driver. I started with just 28 employees in 3 states and within 6 months ended with 38 employees in 5 states (15 locations). We also had after-hours on-call service that we maintained. I restructured the warehouse creating a workstation for each employee, designated shipping and receiving areas and segregated the inventory from the supply areas. We maintained cycle counts, a rigid cleaning schedule and team building activities. I created a cross-training matrix for on going skills and knowledge growth. There were random quizzes and a safety program implemented that encouraged high participation from everyone. I included the satellite team members in our weekly meetings. This position require 25% to 30% travel.
