Daily Duties at Global Medical, Llc:

My role was to start up and find business in the State of New Jersey which was a brand new territory for Global Medical. I covered a territory of over 12 counties developing strong relationships with nursing staffs, material managers, and central supply representatvies in healthcare facilities around the area. These healthcare facilities included nursing homes, assisted living facilities, as well as hospitals in the area. I received a car allowance as well as a cell phone stipend to aid with the everyday performance of my duties. I traveled an indirect distance of over 150 miles a day going to nursing homes, hospitals, and hospice companys initially calling on central supply representatives and material managers within each facility. I also called on corporate hospice representatives as well. I spent a lot of time going from facility to facility passing out my businesscard as well as our company linecards. I would also carry with me and pass out several brochures representing most of our company's extensive product line. I would use Friday as the day to make calls to these people to set up appointments for the following week or whenever they were available to meet with me. During these appointments, I would ask them questions regarding who they were using as their current equipment vendor, and if they were satisfied with their vendor. I would go over our company's equipment linecard and discuss anything we could do to fulfill their equipment needs and services. Upon completion of the first appointment, I would set up a second appointment to come back and inservice any product the material manager or central supply representative had an interest in. At the end of the second appointment, I would make sure to offer a one week free trial with the customer's equipment product of choice so they could see and understand how well the product worked on one of their facility's patients. I wanted to make sure I closed as much business as possible with each facility by getting a contract commitment from them to rent, purchase, and utilize as many products from our company they so desired. I kept daily call reports and itinerary reports. Monthly, I kept an expense report which covered gas, as well as all tolls and bridges. I was reimbursed on a monthly basis. I kept a target account report as well. I was also required to put together a budget report at the end of each year. I made over 25 calls a day and would indicate that on my call report which contained information pertaining to the who, what, where, when, and why regarding the customers I visited and/or called on. The itinerary report basically stated the list of customers I would be calling on in the future, as well as the type of product business I was going after with a specific facility or hospice. I would attend quarterly corporate sales meeting at our corporate office in Maryland. Typically these meetings would be held from Thursday through Sunday to discuss business sales strategy, as well as go over each salesperson's own territory status with senior management. The target account report I kept was required to be presented to senior management at this meeting. The report basically explained the top five accounts I was going after, as well as the type of equipment business I was seeking to get. I was also obligated to attend a durable medical equipment convention in Atlantic City, New Jersey every year. The event was a great way to interact with other sales vendors, but most importantly, a strategic way to be able to promote and conduct business with healthcare professionals throughout the State of New Jersey and beyond.

What they like about Global Medical, Llc:

Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
