Daily Duties at Caterpillar (Bucyrus):
Key member of design team involved with design and launch of new continuous miner. Analysis, review, and improvement of existing and legacy designs and product line. Design of gearing, bearings, shafts, fabrications, and machined components. - Research and design of long-term new projects including: Gearbox for cutter-head of large size machine, and wet-head attachment to existing cutter-head. - Develop analysis tools and programs to stream line design analysis including: pin joints forces, gear design review, splines and keys, bearing selection and life calculations, bolt torque and stress.
