Daily Duties at Us General Services Administration:
• During my tenure I supported over 60 mission critical servers including over 40 database servers of GSA National Capital Region. Enhanced database performance, performed restores, implemented recovery procedures, handled performance tuning and conducted regular system backups. Ensured technical and functional designs meet business requirements. • Took on the entire responsibility for all System and database administration activities at GSA NCR Acted as the prime point of contact for client side management, A+ Team management, and other external and internal stakeholders. Worked on Technology refresh or modernization projects and Lead Administrator. • Responsible for creating and maintaining all databases required for development, testing, and production usage. • Upgraded Oracle 7.3.4 to Oracle 8.1.7. Upgraded Oracle 9i and Oracle 10g databases to the Oracle 11g database. • Provided clients with a cost effective security vulnerability remediation program, and maintained the best possible security posture for our clients before and after the release of the security fixes by Oracle • Applied Oracle's Critical Patch Updates (CPUs) on a quarterly basis, shortly after they are released. • Administered multiple instances of Oracle 7, 8i, 9i, 10g and 11g databases supported on the Windows environments. • Performed the capacity planning required to create and maintain MAXIMO, AAAP, and FIS databases required for development, testing, and production usage. • Planned and implemented a comprehensive oracle backup and recovery architecture using oracle enterprise manager to help in daily management, Oracle instance tuning, Oracle SQL, and Oracle application tuning, and performance management. • Troubleshoot issues regarding databases, application and development tools. Provided advice and guidance to customers as well as resolving customer incidents. • Designed an efficient Database backup and recovery strategy and performed backup and recovery duties using RMAN • Developed scripts to automate backup and recovery procedures for development databases. Anticipated hardware requirements and storage capacity planning for development, testing, QA and production for growth and performance. Worked with database developers to analyze database performance and identify problems in areas such as: execution plans • Recorded zero downtime for all servers and databases. Ensured Oracle database systems operate efficiently and securely. Provided zero-data-loss protection • Experience in RDBMS database design, performance tuning, optimization, backup and recovery in SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2008/2012. Responsible for database monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and high availability strategies for SQL Server 2012 • Experience in using SQL Server Tools like DTS, Import/Export Wizard, SQL Server Enterprise Manager, SQL Profiler and SQL Query Analyzer. Technical experience with High availability of SQL server databases and “Always ON” feature • Experience in Database administration activities for SQL Server DB Security (creating logins, users, roles, and assigning permission to them) • Managed security on Production and Development environments. Created and maintained various logins and managed security based on the required access. • Installed SQL server 2002, 2008 and 2012 on a test environment to be the future production environment • Migrated data from SQL Server 2000 database to SQL Server 2008. • Installed and configured SQL Server 2012 database • Implemented and tested the point in time recovery of the production databases. • Developed documentation that sufficiently describes technical deliverable as required for internal controls so that the maintenance responsibility can be passed on to production support team
