Daily Duties at Carthage Csd:
Provided instruction to primarily ninth grade Special Education students at a High School that provides instruction to approximately 50% military population of students who are mainstreamed into regular education classes. Students presented with a wide variety of disabilities including Learning Disabilities, Autism and Autism Spectrum Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders (OCD) and Attention Deficit Disorders (ADD) Co-taught in regular education classes that included both resource students and students with severe emotional disabilities. Taught a self-contained ninth grade history class in a 15:1, student to teacher ratio. Responsible for all aspects of the Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) for 20 students during the course of one school year to include 5 week reports, 10 week report card grades, parent updates and overall progression of student. Attended and assisted in the facilitation of the Committee for Special Education (CSE) meetings for each student assigned. Utilized IEP Direct Software to write IEP's. Collaborated with Parents, Teachers Aides and Teaching Assistants on a daily basis. Modified student assignments per individualized needs addressed in respective IEP documentation. In addition, I provided individualized attention when needed such as refocusing, social skill building and the use of assistive technologies. Wrote a Social Story that addressed inappropriate behaviors. Served as a Graduate Student Mentor for Potsdam University, providing guidance and evaluation for a co-worker enrolled in a Learning Disabilities Program at the Graduate Level.
