Senior Medical Department Representative, Independent Health Care Provider: Solely responsible for the health and wellbeing of 250 personnel onboard a United Sates warship. Served as principal assistant to the Commanding Officer on all aspects of medical care, patient administration, safety, and occupational health programs onboard. • Selected as the Navy Independent Duty Corpsman of the Year, 2007. • Served as triage officer and first responder during 2 mass casualty events. • Rendered emergency care and follow on care that saved the lives of 6 narcotic traffickers who were critically injured with head injuries, severe second and third degree burns while at sea in a remote location. As well as providing emergency care to all personnel casualties. • Evaluated and positively impacted the health of 49 detainees apprehended from vessels at sea during a Southern Pacific Counter Drug Interdiction Deployment. • Dedicated to crew morale and combat readiness, served as the Education Services Officer who administered 10 advancement exam cycles, and facilitated over 90 college at sea courses with junior personnel; created a mentoring program to ensure each crew member had a mentor for personal and professional development; enhanced the physical readiness program by adding nutrition and education portions leading to a culture of fitness.
