Daily Duties at American Express:

Was one of four Team Leaders selected for the Client Management Pilot. Had to recruit and hire teams for the pilot, develop strategies, policies and procedures, and train the new team members and drive performance. • The pilot team consisted of a Director, 2 Customer Service Team Leaders, and 2 Credit Team Leaders (my position). This was the first attempt to integrate two departments with the goal of enhancing the customer experience. The pilot was successful and led to the development of a sales team that serviced the top customers for AMEX. • Assisted in the development of the metrics for the team • Led a team of 15 credit analysts in Credit Operations • Responsible to hire and train the new teams. • Train and coach direct reports on call effectiveness and ways to reduce call handling time and enhance the customer experience. • Monthly one-to-ones with team members to discuss employee development. • Completed call monitors to identify opportunities and provide the feedback to the team members. • Completed and delivered mid-year and year-end performance reviews. • Conducted weekly staff meetings with team members to provide updates • Attended weekly staff meetings with Sr. Leadership to receive department updates. • Worked closely with Risk partners to develop and provide feedback on policy and procedure. • Collaborated with the Marketing team to develop the training and delivered the training for the Client Management team.

What they like about American Express:

The social vibrance of a hiring firm is very important to you. Your ability to make and maintain friendships there is a critical part of your decision. You would likely be dissatisfied with a workplace that is quiet, cold, or otherwise not particularly social. When you investigate a new hiring company, ask recruiters, managers, and potential co-workers about the social life and opportunities there. This is especially important when you are relocating; moving dramatically alters your social sphere both inside and outside the workplace.
