Daily Duties at University Of Mn Physicians Heart Clinic:

Schedule/coordinate patient appointments/procedures. Answer phones or check out patients. responsible for scheduling of surgical and endoscopy procedures, entry of post case data and patient charges, and retention of records. This position performs administrative and secretarial duties of a diversified, complex, and confidential nature to maintain efficiency of the department operations. Typical Duties Prioritizes patient flow through comprehensive clinical knowledge of case types and operating room resources. 2. Expedites completion of daily elective schedule; posts emergencies and add-on surgeries to schedule as appropriate; makes scheduling decisions as necessary to ensure optimum utilization of operating rooms; resolves scheduling conflicts and authorizes modifications as appropriate. Understands and follows scheduling policies and procedures; i.e. blocked time and length of procedures, including case set-up and turn-around time. Utilizes operating room information system to maintain surgical schedule. Inputs data accurately to maintain information that is the source of Operating Room statistics. Prints out and distributes copies of the surgery schedule on a daily basis. Assists with development of policies and procedures for scheduling, data entry and charging.
