Daily Duties at Health South Corporation:

• Ensure compliance with all HealthSouth’s policies and regulatory agency standards to promote and maintain quality patient care, including but not limited to The Joint Commission (TJC) accreditation agency, CMS, acute hospital and acute rehabilitation regulations, OSHA/EOC, DPH licensure requirements, Safety/Infection Control, Quality Care Audits, and the medical and professional community. • Responsible for the development and implementation of plans for providing nursing care, treatment, and services including determination of the types and numbers of nursing personnel necessary to provide nursing care and the development of a patient focused, team oriented culture, working in conjunction with all other medical, clinical and therapeutic disciplines to ensure optimal service and superior outcomes. • Oversee the work performance of the Nursing, Education, Infection Control, Respiratory and Pharmacy departments. • Coordinate ancillary services in their roles to interface in patient care. • Support cultural diversity by ensuring that the delivery of quality, equitable and culturally competent patient-centered care is provided; promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting of diversity. • Collaborate with Finance and other members of the team to promote financial stewardship and clinical excellence for the facility in both operational and capital acquisition processes. Allocate financial, information, and human capital for improvement activities, ensuring the efficient delivery of cost effective services to patients, physicians, and hospital departments. Establish performance measures, assesses and evaluates operations, and works with department management to assure efficient and effective delivery of services. • Participate with the CEO, senior management team, and medical staff in developing the hospital's strategic plans, operational plans and policies. • Collaborate with the Medical director as well as the Director of Quality and Risk Management in developing and promoting a model of inter-professional collaboration and in setting and reaching collaborative clinical goals. • Collaborate with Human Resources to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with HealthSouth’s policies and applicable laws, including such activities as: developing nurse managers and supervisors in effective handling of employee relations issues; interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Regularly assesses and monitors, and ensure that such monitoring is undertaken, ensure nurse documentation is compliant with requirements and regulations for billing and for nursing practice. • Represent nursing on the Governing Body, Medical Executive and other hospital committees.
