Daily Duties at United States Air Force:

Budget analysis is a staff advisory function for the Group or Squadron Commander. Responsibilities include formulation of budget and cost estimates to support Moody Air Force Base's 23rd Equipment Maintenance Squadron's domestic and overseas plans, programs, and activities with an annual budget of $1,174,000. Responsible for examining, accepting, amending, approving, or rejecting the budget submissions and requests of the 5 supporting squadron's maintenance units which consist of over 800 personnel. Purchases in excess of $10,000 are presented to higher level budget analysts for approval or rejection. Budget forecasting is performed on annual and on a multi-year basis. Budget allocations are submitted, tracked, approved, or rejected using the Automated Business Service System (ABSS). Additionally, responsibilities include analyzing and offering recommendations concerning the costs and benefits of alternative methods of financing operations, implementing legal and regulatory controls over the apportionment, allotment, allocation, obligation, and/or expenditure of funds in approved budgets, and providing advice on effective and efficient means for the acquisition and use of funds to support agency programs and activities. Responsibilities also include preparing long-range cost estimates and plans for acquisitions for projects related to facility and various forms of aircraft maintenance and munitions components, transportation vehicles, and storage supplies. Report to the base comptroller on a monthly basis for verification that funds are properly distributed to the units and that the units are utilizing the funds in a systematic time frame to alleviate a surge of acquisitions at the end of the fiscal year. Worked closely with the base contracting office and the base finance office in support of acquisitions and budgeting activities. Responsibilities include training and assessing the budget analysts quality of unit budgeting that work within and support the supporting units. Responsible to audit that all unit budget personnel utilize their issued Government Purchasing Card in accordance with established guidelines. Accounts are audited through the review of specialized reports. All analysts are responsible to adhere to federal and base policies, procedures, and regulations in order to remain in compliance. Budgets also included travel costs of employees in support of military functions. Therefore, responsibilities include monitoring, assessing, and approving or rejecting travel activities and costs through the Defense Travel System database. Responsible for the issuing, monitoring use, and auditing over 800 Government Travel Cards through Citibank's Government Travel Card database. Adhoc reports were scheduled on a daily, weekly, and quarterly basis to provide the users account activity in which I reviewed accordingly to verify compliance. Unauthorized activities were addressed through the user's management. Trained all users on the acceptable use of the travel card. Support base level disaster recovery and business continuity exercises consisting of mass casualty and mass destruction of resources and equipment. Selected to act as the base and unit disaster recovery evaluator during exercises lasting up to 14 consecutive days 24/7.
