Daily Duties at Ameris Bank:
Responsible for the information security, disaster recovery, vendor management, and incident response for 77 facilities and over 900 employees located throughout four states. Responsible for the information protection of the company, customers, employees, and vendors as well as author and maintain all associated company policies, procedures, and executive summaries for presentation to the Audit Committee and the Board of Directors. Responsibilities include analyzing and mitigating natural, man-made, information systems, terrorist, and employee risk and developing detailed reports for management. Responsible to daily monitor company information system change reports to detect unauthorized system access. Responsible to detect, report, investigate, and document all facets of physical or electronic security breaches. Responsible to conduct, assess, mitigate, and document a company wide information security assessment on an annual basis. Develop and maintain company disaster recovery plans using SunGard's PLANet relational database. Tailored the plans to the processes, equipment, communications, personnel, documents, and dependencies, used to each of the 20 departments and to the hurricane and pandemic plans. Acted as sole system administrator and primary user of the database. Authorized strict permissions to department and regional managers and other essential personnel. Developed and maintained the corporate business continuity Business Impact Analysis and Risk Assessment as well as identified the Recovery Time and Recovery Point Objectives of every task of each company department. Every department's business processes introduced up to 50 emergency processes and up to 500 tasks to execute in order, or as needed, in the event of a business interruption or disaster that affected the department or departments. Acted as the leader of the managers and employees who were assigned to the Incident Response Team, Damage Assessment Team, Crisis Action Team, and the Control Center. Led and coordinated all recovery efforts, including communication, facilities, transportation, and material resources. Developed the disaster recovery testing schedule which included annual testing of 15 critical departments and associated processes. Responsible to train over 200 personnel to understand disaster recovery processes and how to respond calmly during a crisis. Responsible to develop and implement real-work and table-talk scenarios for department managers to respond to. Responsible to assess the managers strengths and weaknesses, communication the strengths and weaknesses with the manager, capitalize on the strengths, and take corrective actions to mitigate the weaknesses. Document all testing and outcome according. Compile annually for assessment on areas of strength as well as areas needing improvement, make corrective actions were possible, suggest corrective actions to management, and provide annual documentation to the Audit Committee and the Board of Directors. Responsible to facilitate the Disaster Recovery Steering Committee on a bi-weekly basis, address current situations and testing as well as the results. Document each meeting accordingly. Maintained an on-call response status 365/24/7. Responsible to locate all vendors utilized by company employees. All 400 located vendors were categorized according to their risk to the bank as well as their risk capability to provide services or support to the bank, employees, and customers. Thirty critical vendors were identified. Annual assessment identified detailed annual risk analysis to include contract reviews, financial stability, regulatory reviews on SOC 1and SSAE 16 reports, and contracts for required information and to ensure that the vendor performs services according to contract specifications. Responsible to verify that vendors utilize proper information security and disaster recovery processes. Document all relevant information and provide a report to the Audit Committee and the Board of Directors on an annual basis. Vendor risks were eliminated or mitigated to a level that was acceptable by the bank's higher level management. Responsible for managing and facilitating the bank's incident response program. Incident response includes any incident involving physical or electronic security, network failures or breaches, rogue employee activities, and disaster recovery or incident response events. Incident responses in one of the four categories occurred approximately 15 or more times per year. The incident may have been relatively minor and inexpensive or may have had an impact of a $1M or more and occurred and lasted for several months or more. Performed internal audit and compliance activities to ensure the information technology and disaster recovery processes were in compliance with federal and company regulations and policies. Investigate, document, and report information security breaches and implement corrective measures. Responsible to train and assess employees to actively practice information security. Maintain close communication and interaction with internal and external auditors as well as federal examiners such as the FFIEC and FDIC. Author and send network hardware and software change reports to the FDIC within 30 days of the change occurring. Audit existing network software and web-based software used by geographically separated employees to ensure that the software is free of malicious intent and is approved by the IT Manager. Identify software that is utilized and is not approved by the IT Manager, document the incident, and report the incident to the IT Manager.
