Daily Duties at Global Medical, Llc:

One of my roles is to manage the day-to-day transportation and service of durable medical equipment accommodating an average of 10 calls a day. I work as a lead for a team of customer service technicians. My job, as well as theirs', is to indirectly travel over 250 miles a day to service all calls throughout the State of New Jersey, as well as the City of Philadelphia, Pa. I work with these technicians throughout the day via phone, email, and text communication dispatching out their assigned routes throughout the territory as they come through from our Maryland corporate office. I manage the to-do list and whereabouts of 5 customer service technicians/drivers. However, I physically work alone and have my own vehicle. I have the responsibility to keep 3 reports on a daily basis. I keep a route sheet which explains my travels throughout the day. I keep a vehicle inspection report which describes anything that may be wrong that would inhibit the operation of the vehicle. I keep a hazardous material report which dictates how many oxygen tanks are onboard the van at all times. I also fill out more than 10 customer service forms a day which basically dictate the demographics, type and/or quantity of equipment being delivered, picked up, switched out, or serviced. I'm on-call every Wednesday after hours, and every other Saturday for a 24 hour shift maintaining customer service with any calls that come in for the delivery, pick up, and service of equipment. On hospice calls, I'm required to keep a checklist for each order so the hospice company and the family they represent, know exactly what was delivered and the services that were rendered. In addition to communicating with other technicians throughout the day, I also communicate with hospice nurses, coordinators, as well as the families of the patients they represent. In a nursing home or assisted living facility, I'm also communicating with directors of nursing, assistant directors of nursing, charge nurses, unit managers, and administrators as well. A lot of what I do and who I deal with on a daily basis has to do with hospice services. However, I also work with physical therapists everyday delivering and inservicing equipment that help improve the rehabilitation and welfare of patients with knee injuries, as well as patients that may have excess, unwanted fluid in their lower extremities. All communication with these healthcare professionals and families is centered around the welfare of the patient in regards to the equipment needed, any special needs or wishes they may have, and to ensure their comfort.
