Daily Duties at Covance Laboratories, Inc.:
I became supervisor after six months as research associate. This position involved more responsibility that I welcomed as I had gained the team's trust in my previous role. I had a more active role with the analytical chemistry team and study direction in the planning and timely start of client studies taking into account their busy schedules. The evaluation and revision of metrics for each study were performed as well as team performance reviews, hiring of new talent and promotions. I wrote and revise SOPs, made sure studies were being properly documented under GLPs. Performed department tours with prospective clients especially Asian companies. I was selected to participated on the pre-management training program (PMTP) as the potential for leadership was palpable.
What they like about Covance Laboratories, Inc.:
A hiring company that offers alternative approaches to pay, performance bonuses, and/or equity in the firm is very attractive to you. You're generally less interested in working for an organization offering only traditional, salary-based compensation, one with limited opportunity to acquire equity in the firm, or one that does not actively promote skill development. In addition, you are more likely to choose a company that offers a variety of internal career options, with defined career paths. You view the learning of new skills and development of your expertise as key to your career advancement. These aspects of an organization may become even more important to you as you progress in your field, and are especially critical if you change career or occupation.
