Daily Duties at Dow Chemical Company:
- Designed, constructed, and conducted research experiments on small scale mini plants (large hood). - Performed studies involved testing of various catalysts and their performance characteristics for chemical processes of interest to Dow Chemical. - Integrated remote analysis (online gas chromatography and mass spectrometry) into the process operation to design fully automated systems, necessitating the use of Excel macros and writing device drivers in Pascal, C, or Fortran. - Conducted small scale studies of latex polymerization kinetics - Designed a pilot plant for polyethylene oxide research - Studied ambient temperature steam stripping of volatile organic compounds (VOC's). - Performed chemical kinetic studies using a new type of recycle reactor (Caldwell).
