Daily Duties at Texas Department Of Public Safety:
As an administrative Technician it was my job to process applicants for driver licenses and identification cards. Each day presented new challenges. Aside from issuing the driver licenses and identification cards, I also administered vision exams and written and driving exams. It was a part of my responsibility to safeguard the integrity of the testing process by making sure applicants were adhering to the rules and not using unapproved aids to assist in passing the tests. When new Administrative Technicians were hired I was responsible for training them on the procedure for the issuance of driver licenses and identification cards and conducting the driving examinations. When the sergeant or trooper was not available I was tasked with the responsibility of filling the role of supervisor/manager. In this role I helped to resolve customer service issues and prepare the lunch and break schedules for all of the employees in the office. When there was a problem with the computer system that we used to issue the driver licenses and identification cards, I was the go to person to figure out the problem, reset the system, and get it going again. If another office was shorthanded I was assigned to fill in in those offices to provide better customer service. A part of my duties as an Administrative Technician was to confirm the cash drawers of all of the other Administrative Technicians and compare the totals to the sum from the daily printout. If there was a discrepancy, I was to find the error. Once everything was reconciled, I filled out a deposit slip and took the money to the bank.
What they like about Texas Department Of Public Safety:
You give high priority to hiring firms with prestige. Market reputation and prestige of a firm may be determined through on-line research, and conversations with individuals working in your target industry. Note that firms "in the public eye" receive a great deal more critical publicity and attention than those operating with more anonymity. So as you assess your employment opportunities, be sure to seek out the positive aspects of the firm's reputation in addition to noting negative publicity the company may have received.
