Daily Duties at Texas Department Of Public Safety:
As one of two troopers in this office, I was to serve warrants and run traffic patrol. When in the office I worked in many different capacities. Since I had training in issuing ids and conducting driver examinations, I often performed these duties in addition to my trooper duties. When the sergeant was out, I was in charge of running the office. This meant making sure the scheduled was being followed and customers were being serviced as expediently and expeditiously as possible. A typical day entailed opening the office, determining how many driving tests could be determined by the number of employees available to give the tests, getting change from the bank, resolving internal and external customer issues, giving written and driving exams, making deposits, and serving warrants. Though I was hired as a State Trooper, I was often called upon to fill the role of an office manager.
What they like about Texas Department Of Public Safety:
A hiring company that offers alternative approaches to pay, performance bonuses, and/or equity in the firm is very attractive to you. You're generally less interested in working for an organization offering only traditional, salary-based compensation, one with limited opportunity to acquire equity in the firm, or one that does not actively promote skill development. In addition, you are more likely to choose a company that offers a variety of internal career options, with defined career paths. You view the learning of new skills and development of your expertise as key to your career advancement. These aspects of an organization may become even more important to you as you progress in your field, and are especially critical if you change career or occupation.
