Daily Duties at Sandstone Group:
Sandstone had marketed its products as separate business units. My role was to bring them together with a common marketing strategy I evaluated regional markets and independent representation, company marketing plans and practices, competition and market decision influencers. I assigned sales quotas to representatives, assisted in the development of regional business plans and evaluated their performance to plan each quarter. Product training and a consistent marketing message was critical to meet sales objectives. I scheduled 50-70% of my time with representatives who would have pre-arranged appointments with key decision influencers and end users. Although the company had previously targeted only institutions, I broadened our focus to appeal to Business & Industry, Office Coffee, Hospitality and universities. I worked closely with customer service and marketing personnel to track quotes and sales through the project life cycle. I worked closely with engineering and production to shorten lead times without sacrificing quality. My sales quota in my first full year was $3.26 million and two years later $5.4 million.
