Developed strategic direction for Storage, Backup and VMware platforms, with forward looking visions while addressing current needs supporting mainframe, midrange and open systems platforms. Provided leadership, guidance and direction for technical teams and assisting with individuals career development plans. Responsible for the deployment, configuration and standardization of Storage, Backup and Recovery & VMware infrastructures, while maintaining readiness of those platforms. Lead the development of technology architecture for Virtual systems, ensuring consistency with specified requirements for both internal and external customers. Effectively manage vendor relationships including negotiations of solutions acquisitions for Storage, Backup and VMWare technologies. Responsible for the day to day operational management of for storage environment maintain high availability for more than 3PB of total storage and for VMware farms consisting of more than 700 ESX hosts. Performed troubleshooting, problem determination and root cause analysis, identifying corrective actions and implementing preventative measures where appropriate to avoid future occurrences. Managed daily production escalation process for issues within environment, reporting status to senior management. Provided 24x7x365 day to day support including on-call support for EMC, IBM, Brocade, Netapp, Oracle/Sun/Storagetek, Symantec/Veritas environments directing teams across the global enterprise. Provided forward looking product analysis of new and emerging technologies, identifying and assessing the relevance for consideration of adoption into enterprise for VMWare, Storage and Backup products. Completed product assessment using industry analysis and corporate need to determine viability. Performed software and hardware evaluations and provide recommendations. Hire, manage and maintain global team based upon corporate objectives including annual employee performance appraisals. Developed annual departmental objectives and build plans for achieving stated goals.
