Daily Duties at The Shield Institute, Bronx Early Learning Center :
Performed intake evaluations for children ages 2-5 with developmental delays and autism. Intakes include parent interview. Evaluations consisted of child’s level of function, gross and fine motor skill; visual motor/ visual perceptual and sensory processing skill, and self care skill and annual goals for the IEP. Produced annual reports and goals for the IEP, as well as quarterly progress reports for caseload of 25. Provided 1:1 treatment to 10 children each day. Treatment consisted of, but not limited to instruction in fine motor grasp, fine motor coordination and gross motor skill; balance and strengthening; feeding, dressing, pre-writing skill, bilateral hand skill such as scissor skill, puzzles, fasteners and coloring to prepare the children for kindergarten. Provided sensory equipment to child to help facilitate their participation in fine motor tasks and activities of daily living. Forged relationships with the Administrative Staff, Teachers, Teacher Assistants, Aides, children and their families.
