Daily Duties at Utili Tech, Inc.:
After demonstrating aptitude in auditing utility and telecommunications invoices, as well as garnering new business and strong negotiation skills and knowledge of the Telecommunications industry, new technologies and data networking, I was promoted to Manage Telecommunications auditing and negotiation services for UtiliTech, Inc. customers. During this time period, my primary responsibilities were to work with sales team to gain new customers, provide consulting services to customers requiring specific Telecommunications implementation services and contract negotiations. This time period saw the rise of many new telecommunications companies and the break up of the Bell Operating companies. This provided businesses with the opportunity to negotiate long distance and local services with a single provider and replace incumbent local carriers in the deregulated areas. In addition, frame relay networks were becoming available to replace more expensive point-to-point circuits. New routing technologies were developed to operate these new data networks. Another advent in the telecommunications industry was the improvement of wireless technology, as multiple networks and plans became more and more available in UtiliTech's service area. As a consultant, I worked with our customers and prospects to develop new telecommunications networks and contract strategies to reduce cost, improve network time and support disaster recovery models. 75% of my time was spent at various customer and prospects locations. I also joined the Society of Telecommunications Consultants to improve my knowledge of the opportunities within the Telecommunications environment and network with my peers.
What they like about Utili Tech, Inc.:
A hiring company that offers alternative approaches to pay, performance bonuses, and/or equity in the firm is very attractive to you. You're generally less interested in working for an organization offering only traditional, salary-based compensation, one with limited opportunity to acquire equity in the firm, or one that does not actively promote skill development. In addition, you are more likely to choose a company that offers a variety of internal career options, with defined career paths. You view the learning of new skills and development of your expertise as key to your career advancement. These aspects of an organization may become even more important to you as you progress in your field, and are especially critical if you change career or occupation.
