Daily Duties at Music Express:
Responsible for handling the operations of the payroll department & Human Resources • Managed day-to-day work of the payroll and human resources department and operations assistant • Recruited new employees and conducted orientation for new hires • Reviewed and evaluated each application • Set up and conducted interviews making sure the candidate was a great fit for the position • Set up new hires employee’s package and assigned each employee an ID number • Managed the processing of bi-weekly multi-state payroll, including garnishments, benefits and tax consistent with federal and state wage and hour laws • Managed the processing of special payroll runs, e.g. final paychecks, bonuses, special pay and commissions, (and manual checks as required) • Assisted in the testing and implementation of payroll tax and HRIS/Paylocity system updates • Ensured that workings lunches, break penalties, split shift premiums, overtime & double time were properly documented and paid • Conducted payroll audits, identified and troubleshoots issues, working collaboratively with the Company’s CFO, General Counsel, HR Director and Asst. Controller • Developed and communicated payroll information applicable to employees and managers • Ensured adherence to company policies and procedures related to payroll and human resources • Reviewed and documented payroll processes and recommended improvements • Worked on special projects as assigned • Ensured wage and hours are accurately recorded, transcribed and processed • Audited and approved all timesheets for multiple states • Ensured Novatime date was entered correctly • Ensured Irregularities, Vacations, Sick Time and PTO requests were processed correctly • Ensured that payroll for multiple states was processed in an organized and timely manner • Oversaw the payroll department’s preparation of monthly expense reports for multiple states • Ensured that all reports and spreadsheets balanced • Responsible for approving all timesheets in Novatime • Responsible for multiple states manifests • Responsible for employees questions as related to payroll and human resources • Provided employees with requested payroll and human resources documentation • Responded to emails regarding employees’ information relating to payroll and human resources • Managed completion of worker’s comp reports for multiple states • Stayed abreast of current wage & hour regulations and, as needed, created office updates regarding the latest laws and regulations governing wage & hour • Worked with the company’s General Counsel to advising all managers regarding the latest payroll and human resources requirements per state and/or federal law • Trained payroll department on payroll laws, rules and regulations, timesheets, spreadsheets and more • Trained payroll department, managers and operations assistant on Novatime and Paylocity systems • Managed payroll department’s daily duties, workload, discipline, commendations, raises, demotions, promotions, terminations, reviews and more • Conducted training classes to make sure employees were properly trained on the laws, payroll and the payroll systems
