Daily Duties at American Electric Power / Easi:
Program Engineer for Telecom – SCADA program consisting of 960 different sites requiring Telecom, SCADA or both utilizing the technology available in the area. Design & engineer substations utilizing standards including bill of materials, yard layouts, plans, sections and details, grounding, ground grid, control building arrangements, interior and exterior raceways, auxiliary AC and DC power systems, and cable lists. Prepare calculations and equipment specifications. Provide technical comments to project electrical specifications, electrical single line diagrams, power system studies, schematic and wiring diagrams. Develop and prepare new electrical power systems standards and specifications, and design criteria and philosophy documents. Assist business units with power system networks to meet or exceed the business goals for operational excellence and improved cost control, quality, reliability and productivity. Develop initiatives and projects to maintain and improve AEP’s electrical infrastructure in areas of safety, cost reduction, reliability, and productivity. Improve AEP’s electrical system performance through the use of appropriate metrics and key performance indicators Investigate electrical failures or problems to determine cause and engineer improvements to prevent recurrence Experience and ability to independently lead Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for major electrical equipment Experience with major projects startup and commissioning
