Daily Duties at Lawerence And Memorial Hospital:
See above for Responsibilities as an Emergency Room RN clinical staff member. Responsibilities as an ER RN at this hospital included having patients that were/came in having an acute MI (myocardial infarction) they would be prepared in a very quick manner starting with quick triage assessment, (ACLS being given such as; oxygen, cardiac monitoring, EKG, IV starts, blood draws, medication administration and any other order given by the MD) and taken to the cardiac catheterization room for intervention. Also this hospital is a certified stroke center and being an ER RN the responsibilities included taking care of patients with stroke like symptoms and intervention such as FAST triage, (ACLS being given such as; oxygen, cardiac monitoring, EKG, IV starts, blood draws, medication administration and any other order given by the MD), the stroke scale assessment would frequently be done, an immediate CT scan, and the patient would be evaluated by a Yale New Haven Neurologist via satellite TV (still being seen by the emergency room MD). The patient would either be sent to Yale New Haven Hospital and/or clot busting medication would be given at the discretion of the Yale Neurologist.
