Daily Duties at Naval Explosive Ordinance Disposal Technology Division:

Supervisor for 17 Government Civilians, to include hiring, performance appraisals, disciplinary boards, awards and adverse counseling. Personally asked by the Commanding Officer to take over as the division officer to fix a broken ship. I succeeded in every aspect and still kept some responsibilities from my previous position such as my COR responsibilities. Key areas of responsibility were Central shipping and receiving, SAP level procurements ($150,000 - $3000.00), P-Card program for micro purchases, Tele-communications Program, Command inventory and I was the commands OM&S lead during transition. I saw the division through process of moving all financial data and procurement to NERP Navy Enterprise Resource Planning tool. I was the single Approving Official for all procurements at the command. Meaning I screened every procurement that was done at the command. Managed the commands plant property with 6.5M in assets. Central shipping and receiving; I was responsible for every item that came and went on the base and I excelled by setting up new SOP's and documenting irregularities that could cause delays in getting items to the end user. Started a web page for all information and forms needed by the division to accomplish requests by customers. Instituted a customer feedback and survey program to make sure the division was meeting customer needs. Tele-communications program; ensured all regulations were being met by command personnel in the use of blackberry's, air cards and encrypted cell phones. Made sure all devices met NMCI standards and Navy regulations. Plant property; conducted the first wall to floor inventory at the command ensuring all assets were accounted for and adding 1M to the current inventory due to shoddy paperwork. Across the board, I wrote or drafted new instructions in every functional area under my purview.

What they like about Naval Explosive Ordinance Disposal Technology Division:

A hiring company that offers alternative approaches to pay, performance bonuses, and/or equity in the firm is very attractive to you. You're generally less interested in working for an organization offering only traditional, salary-based compensation, one with limited opportunity to acquire equity in the firm, or one that does not actively promote skill development. In addition, you are more likely to choose a company that offers a variety of internal career options, with defined career paths. You view the learning of new skills and development of your expertise as key to your career advancement. These aspects of an organization may become even more important to you as you progress in your field, and are especially critical if you change career or occupation.
