accurately interpret and fill physician orders as well as consult with doctors on an appropriate dosage for drug therapy; review, maintain, and screen patient medication records and profiles for allergies, drug interactions and therapeutic duplications while entering orders and/or verifying medications screen med orders against patient profile for possible interactions and contraindications; counsel patients on correct usage and side effects of prescription medications as well as over the counter products; recommend medication therapy to the doctors based on insurance formularies and patients financial restrictions; communicate with physicians and nurses to insure prompt clarification of orders that are unclear, illegible, or incomplete; compound prescriptions that are not available from manufacturer; initiate and facilitate prior authorization requests on medications; utilize OutcomesMTM program to manage patients medication history and bill insurance for clinical interventions; execute Point of Care for compliance program to ensure medication compliance among the patients; administer vaccines to patients; organize daily operational duties and assist in the supervision of pharmacy technicians, cashiers and interns; perform many managerial tasks like inventory reduction via redistribution of dead inventory to other stores, reduce inventory by processing overstock and outdates on a monthly basis; assist with staff scheduling hiring and training; observe proper dispensing and record keeping according to federal and state regulations as well as company policy; maintain organized and accurate patient, narcotics, and immunizing records with accordance to federal and state regulations as well as company policy and procedures; provide superior customer service by resolving customer complaints and staff conflicts that arise; keep pleasant working environment and keep up the morale of staff in busy retail environment; stay current and up to date with new medications that are coming out
