Daily Duties at Maritime Administration:

 Reviewed and accurately distributed media inquiries received via mail, e-mail, fax, and telephone.  Proof read and edited documents for clarity, conciseness of content, tone, proper clearances and approvals, ensuring that it is in accordance with established policy and views of the Office.  Prepared and distributed the daily MARAD Press/News Clips.  Served as congressional representative to deliver important packages to the Senate buildings on Capital Hill.  Managed office layouts/space utilization.  Provided guidance on use of office software and prepared purchase orders for software needed.  Entered sensitive information into the MARAD Public Affairs Constituent database.  Created Excel Spreadsheets, logos; resized images for the MARAD web page.  Served as Web Maintenance Specialist and posted and updated items to the web site.  Served as Graphic Design Specialist to create and design power point presentations, and layouts for the monthly newsletters.  Assisted senior staff members with using some of the software programs such as; Front Page, HTML, Power Point, Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Photoshop, Paper Port, Kodak Scanner, Acrobat Reader, Easy CD Creator, Access, Omni Page Pro, and Microsoft Photo Editor.  Successfully managed, prepared, designed, edited, and maintained the 90-page MARAD annual report to Congress, using Photoshop, Microsoft Publisher, and Microsoft Word.  Managed and served as key educational consultant for MARAD exhibits at annual conferences.  Contacted guest speakers for information such as biographies, for presentations done by the Administrator’s Office, for yearly agency-wide ceremonies.  Prepared request for printing of awards for Marines that served in the war.  Communicated with the Department of Transportation’s Public Affairs office to make arrangements for the Secretary of Transportation, for the annual maritime day memorial program.  Utilized other computer tools such as (i.e. E-mail, Internet) to mail out invitations to internal and external customers. Assisted MARAD employees with using our office equipment such as (i.e. Scanner, Color/ Black and White copiers, Printer) and worked on other special projects as assigned.
