Daily Duties at Ernst And Young Llp:
Served as Tax Staff Level 1, primarily working with the International Tax and Federal Income Tax groups at Ernst & Young. I had primary responsibility for two types of tasks: (1) Research, and (2) Tax return preparation. My primary research experience came with a major American company's tax re-structure. This required research on my part into what types of tax structures would be ideal, including what particular countries were most friendly to a particular type of tax entity. I would research a small part of the project, finding out the ramifications for utilizing Belgium, the Netherlands, or the Cayman for example, and the team I was part of would take that piece of research and consider it within the large scheme of the tax re-structuring. My primary experience with tax preparation was with S Corporation returns for a large private company based in the South. I was part of a team that was required to understand specific filing issues that dealt with both the state and Federal tax returns for the 2007 calendar year. I was required to complete these returns pursuant to information provided by the S Corporation, as well as consult with the larger state tax group to determine areas where tax savings could be achieved.
