Daily Duties at Bb&T (Successor In Interest To First Virginia Bank):
I was hired/asked by senior management to open a new location in Danville VA. My responsibilities were to establish a strong consumer and small business client base: deposit growth and small business growth. This was achieved by effective leadership, training of less experienced staff, hiring of the best person for the job to achieve the goal of the institution and in only a few instances relieve a staff member of duties if expectations were not met. Moreover, build strong relationships with businesses in community, this was achieved by learning about businesses, learn their booking, how did they manage their money, was it effective. I would in most instances work with their accountants to come up with ways to manage it better (make money or save money) in order to be an effective banker, regardless of their trade (construction, medical, legal, and retail).
What they like about Bb&T (Successor In Interest To First Virginia Bank):
Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
