Daily Duties at Medstar Washington Hospital Center:
As Billing Services Coordinator, I was recommended to senior leadership for a newly created position; based on high performance in healthcare finance and analyst. I was hired to duplicate successes at previous employer by managing and coordinating all charge posting and financial activities for Washington Heart Cener a hospital within Medstar Washington Hospital Center and I did just that. Activities: tracking departments volume and measure against previous year to year or month to month's budget, post charges to various expense accounts in the general ledger and balance those general ledgers, approximately $5MM monthly. Moreover, assist corporate accounting with reconciling accounts payable, management of vendor relations, timely posting and processing of purchase orders, approximately $24MM in annual expenses, thus accuracy is extremely important. I work in concert with internal auditors to perform audits on patient accounts to ensure hospital along with federal guidelines are being followed, assist departmental director(s) with reaching budget goals through data mining and providing monthly revenue cycle reports to better manage the departments resources (managerial accounting functions).
What they like about Medstar Washington Hospital Center:
The social vibrance of a hiring firm is very important to you. Your ability to make and maintain friendships there is a critical part of your decision. You would likely be dissatisfied with a workplace that is quiet, cold, or otherwise not particularly social. When you investigate a new hiring company, ask recruiters, managers, and potential co-workers about the social life and opportunities there. This is especially important when you are relocating; moving dramatically alters your social sphere both inside and outside the workplace.
