Daily Duties at Rti Alloys:
I had been in the sales department for some time when I was asked by the Division Manager to return to the RSA plant. The Division Manager had been assigned to RTI Alloys division by corporate and he really had no clue as to what or how the RSA plant functioned. the plant had become a non profitable enterprise. My responsibility was to turn it around and make it profitable once again. This required that I analyze the entire operation from: production processes, staffing, raw materials, safety, quality, maintenance, technology, product development, and cost. I established databases and graphs to establish a present state view of what was transpiring in the plant for all of the above mentioned areas, then recruited all employees from the plant manager down to the custodian to participate in teams to attack all areas of concern. I spent the first 3 weeks following the products through their progression in the plant, took photos, interviewed employees, took notes and formulated a plan. The following 4 achievements brought the plant back to profitability which is still maintained to this day. Along the way I found I had time on my hands so I took on additional responsibilities. I took over raw material purchasing and the corporate buyback program.
What they like about Rti Alloys:
Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
