Daily Duties at Sims Metal Management Aerospace:
When I work for a company, it is my mindset that the company is mine and the decisions I make are based on that premise. I was never given a job description when I was promoted to VP in January of 2008. I was given free reign to do what I thought was best for the company. I took on the responsibility for everything that happened inside or outside the 10.5 acre facility including but not limited to: 1) Production planning : data collection, database building, analysis, execution 2) Determination of Capital projects, cost, ROI, project plan and execution 3) Hunting and Integrating new technologies 4) Plant Staffing, both supervisory and hourly 5) Employee training, both supervisory and hourly 6) Contract negotiation and conflict resolution 7) Quality and ISO 8) Safety 9) Maintenance 10) Outside contractors Working with and through my direct reports, we created a vision of where we were and where we needed to go. As a result we hired Dupont to take us to world class in safety. I re-introduced TPS Lean to reduce delays and 6 sigma to reduce defects and rework. We became the leading division within SIMS for safety. Staffing was reduced and productivity enhanced. Production costs were reduced. No grievance ever went to arbitration.Reject rates fell. We were successful in moving forward.
What they like about Sims Metal Management Aerospace:
The social vibrance of a hiring firm is very important to you. Your ability to make and maintain friendships there is a critical part of your decision. You would likely be dissatisfied with a workplace that is quiet, cold, or otherwise not particularly social. When you investigate a new hiring company, ask recruiters, managers, and potential co-workers about the social life and opportunities there. This is especially important when you are relocating; moving dramatically alters your social sphere both inside and outside the workplace.
