Daily Duties at Almco Engineering & Construction:
I was hired to work on the structural design of project with US army. The project capacity was 17 million and for 18 months duration which a fast pace progress. The working hours were unlimited. Sometimes I had to speed a 24 hours on site dealing with problems and sometime spend 16 hours in the office either designing or taking care of the paper work. I was a part of team that consisted of 3 design engineers. We coordinated responsibilities between each other and scheduled the project to deliver it a head of time. I was picked mainly because I knew how to use design softwares, project cost estimation in terms of the quantity take off, and I knew materials testing based on my previous experience as lab technician. My responsibilities included but not limited to : 1.Site design and layout : determined location of the building, site preparation and leveling including the amount of cut and fill of the soil as well as bore holes to determine the level of the ground water tabel. 2. Structural design of the project using ACI 318-08, AISC, and ASCE. 3. Planned and Scheduled construction stages to deliver project ahead of time. 4. Managed clients meetings to discuss construction progress. 5. Planned and managed materials testings including: Concrete cylinder tests Trial batches Soil mositure content. all of these tests were conducted according to the ASTM standards. 5.
