Conducted experiment specific tasks for multiple research projects utilizing a number of different microbiology techniques. •Created recombinant DNA utilizing plasmid cloning vectors, restriction endonucleases, and DNA ligases •Electroporated bacteria colonies with plasmid DNA, cultured the transformed bacteria colony and utilized mini, midi, or maxi preps to extract the DNA •Performed genomic and plasmid DNA amplification using Polymerase Chain Reaction •Utilized southern blots for detection of specific DNA sequences to verify experimental genotype in mice •Practiced mouse husbandry on multiple transgenic mice lines including; breeding, tagging, tailing, irradiating, necroscopies, per fusing, and genotyping per experimental requirements. •Prepared blood samples for FACS analysis •Utilized a cryostat and multiple staining techniques on mouse brain segments •Kept a detailed, organized account of experimental activities, outcomes, and records •Certified in radiation safety and handling of hazardous materials
