Daily Duties at Allstate Insurance Company:
The Chief Development Architect is the organization’s custodian for the SDLC (software development lifecycle). Responsibilities included creating a centralized organization to address all aspects of the development environment(s) required to create and deploy technology solutions necessary to give Allstate a competitive advantage in the marketplace. Successfully acted as liaison to the vertical business units developing software by unifying them to use a common set of process and technologies. This role did not exist until Steven saw the enormous opportunity that a centralized organization could have. He successfully defined the role, sold the concept and obtained funding. He became the first Chief Development Architect and consistently produced annual savings in the tens of millions of dollars by standardizing on a set of external vendors, standardizing on a set of processes for developing software, and implementing established industry-wide best practices.
