Daily Duties at Golden State Irrigation Services, Inc., A Division Of Valmont Industries:

Directed the accounting department in all phases of the accounting cycle to include facilitating the month end close and preparation of financial statements for each branch and a consolidated statement for the company for inclusion into Valmont’s financial statements, reconciliations and analysis, and to improve the financial reporting of the company. I oversaw Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Purchasing, and the Inventory Management. Aggressively negotiated with vendors to repay long past due invoices incurred by the prior management team. A large majority of the vendors had put the company on hold to purchase needed inventory unless progress was made to pay down the past due invoices. Improved cash flow and cash management through increased aggressive customer collections on past due invoices as well as invoicing our customers on a more timely basis. Prepared the annual budget for approval by Valmont’s Irrigation Division Controller and forecasting, as needed and/or requested for the company. Analyzed and explained variances between actual financial statement results compared to the budget. Became interim General Manager from October 2008 through January 2009. As a result of cost cutting and the closure of three branches, the accounting staff was reduced from five (5) including me to three (3), again including me. The cuts increased my need to take a more hands on approach within the Accounting Department.
