Daily Duties at University Physicians, Inc:

Provide supervision over the patient services department, including account call center, special handling accounts and patient account escalations. -Manages the daily workflow of the patient services department, maintains benchmarks and standards for department employees as well as perform monthly account reviews. -Handles escalated patient calls regarding accounts emphasizing on customer service and quick and fair problem solutions. -Very strong understanding of insurance claims, medical billing, contracted payer mixes, Medicare/Medicaid, 3rd party payers, Global Contracts and other payer contracts. -Facilitates problem resolution by working with Fee Coordination (coding), Accounts Receivable, Registration, Finance, four separate collection agencies and all payer mixes. -Efficiently works over 120 accounts daily to ensure proper claims submissions, invoice follow-up and payment. -Ensures that all claims are correctly worked and that claims are submitted or appealed in a timely fashion. -Serves as the point person for staff to discuss and resolve difficult or incorrectly billed claims. -Participates in multi-departmental meetings to discuss process improvement and evaluate the efficacy of already implemented systems. -Maintains a high level of professionalism, claims knowledge and courtesy when dealing with all patient calls. -Provides strong leadership and management to staff and facilitates staff unity through effective communication, creative problem solving and unbiased conflict resolution. -Consistently evaluating departmental policies and procedures to see where improvement can be made. -Evaluates prospective new hires and works with HR during the hiring process.
