Daily Duties at Us Army (Active And Reserve):
As a logistics officer my duties primarily revolved around the coordination and transportation of material assets for every level of the military (Group, Division, Brigade, Battalion and Company levels) throughout the US and deployed sites (Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan and Dubai). As a platoon leader I managed 54 personnel while forward deployed to Iraq and Kuwait in support of contingency operations. I was responsible for heavy equipment transportation support to the U.S. and Coalition Forces. I managed and maintained a fleet of over 26 vehicles and property in excess of $10M. I managed all supply functions, personnel actions, arms room and weapon system accountability and maintenance. I maintained oversight of organizational and direct level maintenance support resulting in the sustainment of a 98% Operational Readiness Rate for all assigned vehicles. I managed and tracked asset capabilities which led to the accumulation of over 1 million miles driven within a nine month period. I planned, coordinated and executed all phases of quarterly and annual training for twenty-one departments. I coordinated meetings, briefings, orientations, transportation, workshops, audio-visual, and other operational and logistical support. I tracked and maintained the Unit Status Report entailing statistics for 307 personnel. I developed, planned, and executed ceremonies, official social functions and appropriate honors for distinguished guests. I developed near and far training objectives in accordance with goals defined by mission essential task lists. As a company commander I managed and maintained the combat readiness, health, welfare, morale and discipline of 4 officers and 159 enlisted Soldiers. I managed and maintained a fleet of over 120 vehicles and property in excess of $120M. I maintained oversight of organizational and direct level maintenance support resulting in the sustainment of a 98% Operational Readiness Rate for all assigned vehicles. I tracked all material assets and cargo for convoy shipment. I prioritized all resources of the unit/department including time, equipment, money, and facilities to make all tasks effective, efficient, and ahead of schedule. I ensured the accuracy of all personnel and equipment for operational readiness. I produced and executed section training and professional development training for 68 employees/soldiers. As a company commander I managed a logistics operations cell for combat logistics convoys and line haul operations throughout the Helmand, Herat, Uruzgan, and Kandahar Provinces of Afghanistan. I managed a 173 personnel unit/department to include all administrative functions. I tracked, planned and coordinated approximately 250 combat logistics convoys that safely moved over 10,000 pieces of equipment to various forward operating bases throughout Afghanistan. I arranged and managed all components in the force structure in five integrated supply support organizations and units resulting in a 98% operational readiness rate. I established and monitored standard operating procedures for combat logistics convoys for unit operations in Afghanistan. I reviewed, analyzed and interpreted regulations, directives, and other material relating to all facets of military personnel administration. I prepared management implementing guides, standard operating procedures, and instructions. I rendered decisions and interpretations of regulations in the field of qualifications determination, grade determination, or status eligibility. As an operations officer I oversaw and coordinated all transportation of cargo/assets to various locations throughout the US. I tracked 32,000 assets for movement with zero missed shipments. I took over supply officer duties to accurately analyze supply and demand for battalion headquarters and 9 subordinate units (634 Soldiers). I effectively utilized the Standard Army Retail Supply System (SARRS) and Standard Army Maintenance System – Enhanced (SAMS-E). I created an organizational method for tracking and storing unit supplies for deployment. I was the Subject Matter Expert for the development and management of all training functions. I developed and monitored policy and standard operating procedures for tracking all battalion personnel. Determined training needs and prepare and supervise training to support those needs. I prepared detailed plans which support execution of policies and strategies. I documented all training and made recommendations concerning the Unit Manning Report for unit strength. I established policies and standards for each subordinate unit and supervise unit efforts to meet readiness standards. I developed and implemented all communications to ensure uniform interpretation and application of regulations and procedures.
