Daily Duties at Lexon Surety Group:

The Information Technology department was started only 8 months prior to my being hired. The initial leader for the department had created a very adverse environment that needed to be transformed. I was accountable for developing a strategic plan around all aspects of the department including Infrastructure, Development, End-User Support and Project Management. I led an initial team of 6 staff which grew to 10 that supported employee growth from 80 to 150 located in 3 corporate offices and 5 branch locations with an annual $4 million budget. Responsible to research and acquire the appropriate Infrastructure, Applications and Development Tools to support the business requirements. Responsible for developing policies and processes required to meet Department of Insurance audits and meeting the business requirements for the Information Technology functions. Responsible for recruiting and training the staff to operate like a corporate Information Technology department to keep up with the company going from small to mid-sized. Represented the current work and future work of the IT department as part of the Executive team at monthly meetings. Responsible to work with business leadership to educate them on the plans, policies and set expectations to meet their needs. Main point of contact for all vendors used within the IT department. This included recruiting firms, communication providers, hardware and software suppliers. Responsible to provide the internal audit team and the Department of Insurance audit team with evidence of the required controls.
