Daily Duties at Maple Leaf Consumer Foods:

• Recruitment for salary and hourly positions – provided support to Production for weekly forecasting of part-time employee needs, posted vacant job positions, screened resumes, coordinated and conducted interviews, performed reference checks, prepared offer letters, and organized and conducted the Human Resources section of orientation • Implemented a new scheduling system for 300 hourly employees in 3 departments to facilitate teamwork between HR and Production Supervisors • Administration – visitor sign in, managed inventory of mailroom, ordered office supplies and employee uniforms as required, updated communication boards, tracked the employee absence call-in line, assisted with the organization of employee events and sales, sorted and distributed pay stubs, and provided support to Production, Finance and Quality Assurance • Ran the weekly payroll updates and submission for all hourly employees • Assisted in the implementation of new programs – employee suggestion program and organization of employee forms • Maintained the counseling letter program that monitored and improved employee absenteeism • Tracked and submitted all salary overtime hours to payroll and helped organize the hourly overtime hours • Organized and submitted short-term disability claims for all hourly employees • Updated changes in HRMS for all hourly employees including new hire set up, change of address, change in department, change in rate of pay, extended leaves and absences, and termination • Submitted the weekly turnover report for all hourly employees • Helped with grievances, investigations, and other labor relations issues in compliance with the Collective Agreement • Prepared employment verification letters and maintained all confidential personnel files
