Daily Duties at Allied Waste Inc.:

I managed 3 sales divisions responsible for building and maintaining over $28 million dollars in annual revenue. These divisions included inside and outside sales components. My scope of responsibility included full retention of the divisions $28 million dollars plus growing the business by $177,000 per month between the 3 divisions (cities) I was managing. My largest division (Dayton, OH) did not have a landfill asset which put our market in a severe disadvantage verses our competition. I hired quality people, trained them well and exceeded my goals and yearly quota (budget number) within the first 10 months. For the year (2007), I finished at 116% of goal after being allocated the highest goal budget increase in the district. Additionally our margins per sale increased by17% as a result of coaching, value added selling, and strong talent acquisition (all of which I was instrumental in the execution of these tasks.) To keep my skills sharp (and drive margins and revenue), I closed over $600,000 in business while managing my department (in 2007), I authored sales plans, created a "team" first environment in concert with working with all departments within the division, studied trends in the market place and aligned our sales strategies to answer those trends, and understood the business indicators to formulate accurate forecasts.Regularly communicated the company vision, mission, business plans, and policies to my direct reports. Consistently monitored the performance of my direct reports providing, coaching, training, and development.

What they like about Allied Waste Inc.:

Working for a company with an emphasis on social values and helping society is a clear and important priority for you - a critical factor in who you choose to work for. In contrast to other factors, you place an organization's reputation for fairness and concern for the community above most other aspects of the company. As you search for a new job opportunity, it is usually possible to find out if the company is involved in the community and/or if it is addressing problems and issues in society. Pay special attention to non-profit organizations and those specifically involved in social action. Moreover, speaking with current and former employees should enlighten you to perceptions of the fairness of the company's leaders and the treatment of employees.
