Daily Duties at Waste Management:
Management of the day to day sales functions for a department generating $32 million dollars in annual sales. I was required to maintain the existing revenue ($32 million), grow the base of customers by $194,400 every month, train and develop the 7 reps that reported to me, manage the department to profitability, maintain and grow margins (24% was our target) on every existing and new account, defend our pricepoints against competitive threats (which were numerous), identify, attract, and hire new talent, participate in high level networking functions to promote business, conduct call block sessions and set minimum expectations for targeting new accounts, and exceed all expectations to capture my quarterly bonuses (which I did.) I developed rock solid sales strategies that positioned Waste Management as the industry leader and I analyzed market trends to ensure our market would capture all the opportunities available to us. I also recognized negative trends that were influencing our business and managed those threats accordingly.I held my sales team accountable to my created and defined budgets. I was responsible for consistent monitoring of client churn, growth on existing and new business in our sales pipeline. I also orchestrated accurate sales forecasting and consistently communicated with my superiors regarding marketing/networking opportunities.
What they like about Waste Management:
Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
