Daily Duties at Suny Upstate Medical University:
Structural assembly of Erlin1/2 complex, a membrane protein: Erlin1 and Erlin2 are highly homologous, endoplasmic reticulum membrane proteins that assemble into a ring-shaped complex with a mass of ~2MDa. We used molecular modeling, mutagenesis and cross linking to identify the “hotspots” for lower and higher ordered assembly and a hydrophobic-aromatic mechanism was suggested.
