Daily Duties at The College Of William & Mary:

I obtained a Graduate Assistantship (GA) in the Graduate School of Education Admission's Office. This position provided me a stipend and free tuition. I was responsible for assisting all office staff in whatever tasks needed to be done. Due to my previous work experience, the staff quickly realized I was capable of taking direction, working efficiently and effectively, and demonstrated leadership. I became responsible for overseeing the admissions process, inclusive of ensuring applicant files were complete, providing a first review of applicants to 'weed out' those who would not be reviewed, and delegated other GAs to ensure files were complete, notify applicants about missing information, and provide me only with completed files. I also became the sole data entry person for students' grades upon submission from faculty and reviewing students' computer records to ensure accuracy and completeness when ready to graduate. I was asked to revise various forms, inclusive of student requests for general admission and information about the school; graduation forms; initial student admission forms, inclusive of personal data. I was selected as the GA who would also work throughout the summer, receiving add'l monies (only one GA was selected for this position). I held this 'summer' position for my duration as a GA.
