Daily Duties at Virginia Hospital Center:

Night shift charge nurse supervising 2 nurses and a tech. Worked with the emergency department and outside resources to manage admissions. Made patient assignmetns according to staff skill level. Worked with hospital nursing supervisor regarding adequate staffing of unit. Care of patients addicted to opiates, benzodiazapines, marijuana, spice and other club drugs, and alcohol. Provided safe, medical detox via assessments utilizing the CIWA scale or OWA scale. Medication administration including IV therapy, 02 therapy, and blood administration. Crisis stabilization. Maintained professional working relations with doctors and kept them up to date on patients status. Acted as a resource for staff, patients, and families on addiction and treatment options. Active on a unit based committee as the chairperson and on a hospital based council. Maintained joint commission standards regarding safety through fall prevention policy and correct documentation is both the paper chart and the computer chart.
