Daily Duties at Royal Dutch Shell:

Work as a trader and an analyst on Shell’s centralized Nymex Henry Hub Future’s and Forward Desk, handling all the execution on Nymex swaps, futures, and options worldwide • Create natural gas markets for over 100 traders and marketers for Shell world wide • Help manage position on a speculative trading book with over $20 million goal • Monitor and update deal flow for several hundred trades each day, ensuring accuracy and fast entry • Model the Desk’s commodity exposure on a daily basis reflecting current market conditions and operational realities • Ensure millions of dollars in deals flowing through book each day are accurate • Mentor junior traders in development and analysts (4 so far) • Price several dozen options daily, and maintain option models for trade desk • Serve as quantitative expert, internal consultant, and pricing resource for other groups for products that are difficult to value, oddly structured, or require sophisticated methods to accurately price • Summarize complex trades for upper management in a simple and concise way • Develop new models and improve existing ones to better represent energy markets, streamline operations, or model new types of transactions or risks modeling new deals, updating modeling and methods • Self-start needed improvements to various trading and pricing models, estimate time, and self-manage completion of each project • Build and maintaining modeling infrastructure • Provide explanations of the modeling and its results to front office traders, pricing analysts, portfolio management, and other risk groups • Conduct exploratory market analysis when needed, and create effective visual displays using valid statistical methods • Ensure 100% accurate deal inputs and verifying trade model’s exposure output is 100% correct • Oversee the daily production of trading and risk reports (exposure, p\l) • Oversee risk pricing methodologies (option valuation, LIBOR) • Manage Risk IT initiatives as they come
